One of the great things about having your outdoor wedding with us here at The Orchard at Munsley is flexibility and that’s especially important when it comes to your wedding catering.

Some wedding venues might want to limit you to an approved list or even one supplier, but that’s not the way we operate. The food at your wedding is one of the most important elements, which is why when you’re having your celebration here your options are limitless. So, while we have a carefully curated list of wonderful local suppliers you can use, you are also free to use your own.

Whether you want a formal sit-down affair, casual grazing boards or even a choice of street food trucks, the decision is yours. The only proviso we set is that, as part of our sustainability goals to limit carbon emissions, we ask that your supplier isn’t more than 60 miles away. But the choice within that radius is almost limitless.

 What we do provide

One of our most asked questions is about what we do and don’t supply when it comes to catering at outdoor weddings. Of course, outside catering companies usually, but not always, come to the wedding venue fully equipped and so what we provide are the three essentials – power, water and waste disposal. This crucially includes the provision of food waste bins that divert our food waste from landfill to an aerobic digester, where it is made into renewable energy. We’ll also keep the catering team hydrated with complimentary drinks and we can also provide two large metal trestle tables.

 What we don’t provide

What we don’t provide will usually, but again not always, fall into the category of what your outside caterer will supply. This includes tablecloths, crockery, cutlery, a cake cutting knife (you’ll want a photo worthy one!), as well as food service/clearing staff, washing up facilities, kitchen or a catering gazebo. We would highly recommend asking your caterers exactly what’s included in their quote.

Read on below to hear about a couple of our recent weddings and their catering experiences.

 A relaxed grazing wedding

Beth and Oli used one of our favourite local caterers, Your Plate or Mine, for their relaxed glam wedding. Their guests enjoyed delicious bbq’d grazing boards and a choice of delicious salads for their wedding breakfast.

A Spanish Fiesta

Lottie and Fredi wanted a nod to the groom’s Spanish family for their festival themed wedding and used a new supplier – the amazing Carlos and Helen from Las Tapitas. They served three different paellas outside in their impressive paella pans for the day food and then Spanish grazing boards in the evening. It was the perfect fit for their theme and the guests absolutely loved the food.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
